The 2005 TEAM-Math Summer Institute

The TEAM-Math project would like to thank all of the teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors who participated in the 2005 Summer Institute.

This year, nearly 700 teachers representing over 60 elementary, middle, and high schools in East Alabama took part in the institute. This is a remarkable number! Also, nearly 70 percent of the teachers that took part in last year’s summer institute returned for a second year.

We are really encouraged by the enthusiasm the participants showed for trying new things with their students! Over 99% of the participants reported that they are likely or very likely to use the ideas they learned with their students in the coming school year.

In addition, over 70 administrators and 50 counselors attended special sessions at the end of the second week of the institute. In fact, a number of administrators were there for much of the institute! Administrators and teachers worked together in school and district planning meetings to develop coherent plans for implementing TEAM-Math's vision. The school and district planning meetings received extremely positive reviews from all concerned. The momentum is building to really make a difference in 2005-2006.
